Studies show that adolescents who have stronger relationships with non-family adults have higher levels of positive support, engage in less risky behavior, and have increased levels of overall well-being.
A recent study involving more than 70 mentoring programs and more than 25,000 young people affirmed what many smaller studies have found — that mentoring has a significant effect on positive youth development (Raposa, et. al. 2019).
